A Quintessential Swim Camp

Dates: Monday, June 25–Friday, June 29

This camp for newer and intermediate competitive swimmers will use the five basic elements from ancient Greek philosophy (air, earth, fire, water and aether) to help swimmers develop a better feel for the water and understanding of how they move through the water. Coaches Katy Haseley and Sally Zaengle will use games and fun activities to make abstract concepts applicable and help your swimmer become faster.

Advanced Competitive Swim Camp

Dates: Monday, June 25–Friday, June 29

Advanced Competitive Swim Camp will be coached by Kristen Griger, head coach of the Clark Sports Center Sharks, and will focus on building competitive swim skills. This week long camp will cover areas including stroke technique, starts, turns and race strategy. Each day will include dryland training as well as pool time. At the end of the week our improved skills will be on display as the swimmers compete in a camp swim meet. Participants must have at least 2 years experience on a competitive swim team to be eligible for this camp with coaches’ approval.

Baseball Camp

Our baseball camp will be coach by Cooperstown Elementary PE teacher Bud Lippitt with assistance from Clark Sports Center staff. This camp will provide excellent instruction in a positive learning environment. Campers will learn the basic fundamentals of hitting, bunting, pitching, catching, fielding and positional play. Campers will then apply their skills and strategy to games and contests. Campers should have a hat, glove, spikes, water bottle and proper baseball attire (baseball pants or sweat pants).

Beginner Dance Camp

Alyssa McCoy will direct this week of introductory dance skills. Alyssa danced eleven years at Donna French School of Dance and was a Jr. instructor at school as well. Children will learn feet positions, ballet moves, turns and jumps during the week long class. This will be a great starter class for your child to learn the basics and have fun while doing it.

Bowling Camp

This fun camp will be instructed by Clark Sports Center, Barry Gray with assistance from Mike Kenney. Barry has over 30 years experience in bowling including several perfect games and enjoys teaching children the game. Campers will learn basic fundamentals through drills, videos, one on one instruction, competition and tournament play.

Boys & Girls Basketball Camp

This camp will be led by Clark Sports Center basketball coach, Scott Whiteman. Assisting Coach Whiteman will be CCS varsity coach Mike Niles, former UMASS player Sean Nelen, Vermont Academy’s Tyler Bertram, Lemoyne College’s Liz Millea, and Cobleskill College guard Addy Lawson. This fundamental camp will cover all skill aspects of the game and will also incorporate contests and fun games. The camp is for all skill levels and promises to be the basketball highlight of your child’s summer.

Circus Theatricks Camp

Sean Fagan created Circus Theatricks to introduce “children of all ages” to the athleticism and artistry of Circus and Theatre performance. A former Ringling Bros. Barnum & Bailey circus clown, Sean’s theatricks include a wide range of ground skills proficiency including juggling, slapstick, pratfalls, stilt walking, unicycle, rolling glove, rola-bola, tumbling, partner acrobatics and more! This fun camp can help you develop your sense of confidence, bag of tricks, and build your skills on any level – process to performance! Circus show will start at 3pm on Friday for parents and guests!

Golf Adventure Camp

This fun camp is for golfers who have had some experience playing 18 holes on a golf course. Campers will play 5 area courses with coach Scott Whiteman. They will have a great time playing while learning proper golf etiquette and will be assisted with the strategies of the game. Rain or shine (play will be suspended for lightning), campers will meet at The Clark Sports Center and driven to all courses. Greens fees and lunch are included at each course, campers must have their own equipment .

Golf Camp

Clark Sports Center employee Scott Whiteman will direct this camp. Campers will receive excellent instruction as well as a 9 hole round of golf at the end of the week. The camp focuses on teaching the correct technique to help produce the most efficient swing for maximum power. On Friday parents will need to provide transportation to and from the Meadow Links golf course for a 9:00am start. The week will finish up with lunch at Meadow Links and campers will need to be picked up by noon. Campers must have their own equipment.

Long time instructor and coach, Betty Gavin-Singer will direct this great camp. The program will provide first class instruction in an exceptional environment. Improved self-image, increased body awareness and enhanced health and fitness are some of the outcomes of gymnastics and dance. Proper warm up including stretching will be part of the daily program.

Intro to Strength Program

The Intro to Strength Program is a beginning level movement program that will prepare athletes for future use of The Clark Sports Center’s Fitness Center. Movements using our Kinesis Line of equipment as well as our Escape Rig will be utilized along with teaching proper use mechanics. The Intro to Strength program will be run by the Health & Fitness professionals of The Clark Sports Center.

The Jr. Lifeguard program teaches children the knowledge and skills that professional lifeguards possess, including but not limited to personal fitness, teamwork, personal water rescue, and basic lifeguarding techniques.

This two day camp will be directed by Clark Sports Center athletics coordinator, Jessica Gualtieri. The camp will introduce basic fundamentals of multiple sports each day, teaching skills, developing hand/eye coordination while promoting teamwork, sportsmanship and friendly competition.

Clark Sports Center’s Scott Whiteman will direct this fun camp to introduce kids to the game of golf. Campers will be instructed on the correct way to grip a club and how to swing and other basic fundamentals. Campers must have their own equipment.

Plyometrics (Jump) Program

A twice/week, 45 minute session geared toward improving vertical jump and leg power. Participants will be taught proper mechanics and be given a daily workout to meet these goals. Good for athletes in all sports that require generation of leg power. Please bring a water bottle. The Plyometric (Jump) Camp will be directed by Health & Fitness Director, Rich Jantzi. Rich is a certified Plyometrics instructor through NFPT and has over 20 years of experience with plyometrics.

Power & Explosiveness Program

This program will focus on fluid body mechanics and include instruction on proper jumping technique to the correct running form. This camp will help keep athletes injury free by ensuring they move right in their respective sports. Strength and Conditioning Coordinator, Adam Swartout, will lead the camp.

Soccer Intermediate Camp

This camp will be directed by Frank Miosek bringing over 35 years of coaching experience at all levels. Area coaches and Sports Center staff will be assisting Coach Miosek. The camp will focus on all the fundamentals necessary for campers to improve their skills and take their game to the next level. Coach Miosek will lead a team of coaches to instill proper fundamentals for your child. Spikes, shin guards and water bottles are required.

Soccer Training Camp

Each session of this camp will cover speed and agility work. Athletes will work on developing their footwork, changing directions, explosiveness, balance, proper body mechanics, reactions and quickness. Incorporating these skills into game related situations also helps improve tactical awareness of each player. Strength and Conditioning Coordinator, Adam Swartout, will lead the program.

The Sports Performance Program is an all-inclusive program that will provide young athletes with a summer long training program to improve flexibility, core strength, agility, endurance, speed and overall body strength. This camp is designed for children with a range of experience and will focus on developing basic technique and strategy. All are welcome whether new to the sport or have had exposure to the game. The camp is run by sibling pair: Graham and Ellie Gozigian. Graham is a member of the Trinity Men’s Squash team who recently won their 17th National Men’s College Squash Championship. Ellie is a member of the Dartmouth College Women’s Squash team and a former nationally ranked junior player. Both Graham and Ellie have over four years of experience coaching camps and look forward to teaching the game they love to children at the Clark Sports Center this summer.

Summer Splash Camp returns! Join The Clark Sports Center’s aquatic staff for a week of water adventures. Trips include Glimmerglass State Park, Zoom Flume, Enchanted Forest Water Safari and an overnight trip to Six Flags Great Escape lodge where we will enjoy the indoor water park and Six Flags Great Escape theme park.

Volleyball Performance Camp

Wrestling Camp

This exciting camp will be run by Cooperstown PE teacher and modified wrestling coach, Bud Lippitt. Bud brings years of competing and teaching experience to this fun camp, he will be assisted by varsity coach Mike Croft. The week will focus on introductory skills for beginner wrestlers and more advanced skills for older campers. Your child will have a great experience while learning the sport of wrestling and improving their skills. The camp will meet and take place in the Cooperstown Central School wrestling room.
