Adventure Camps Enrollment

Member registration for Summer Adventure Camps will start Saturday, May 9 at 8:00am in the Conference Room. Space is limited for many camps; be sure to sign up early. An Adventure Department staff person will be on hand Saturday morning to answer any questions about the camps being offered. Initially, a parent or guardian is only allowed to register members of one family. If you are also acting as a proxy for a friend or relative, you must wait until everyone who has waited in line that morning has registered. Non-member registration will begin Saturday, May 16 at 8:00am at the Main Desk. Both members and non-members need to fill out the Adventure Camp registration form (PDF, 87kb) and submit it with your payment to the Main Desk staff.

Adventure Day Camp

Adventure Day Camp is back and ready for a great summer with new trips and challenges for campers! Scenic railroad rides, hiking to beautiful destinations, monkey around at an incredible zoo will all be part of our summer adventure! On Friday we will have a scenic picnic at Otsego Lake.

Awesome Adventures Camp

Awesome Adventures Camp will provide many exciting activities this summer: rock climbing, canoeing, hiking, and biking, just to name a few! At the end of the week we will experience a whitewater ride down the Sacandaga River and camp out overnight watching the stars and roasting marshmallows.

Digital Photography Camp

Cost: $190 Members/$210 Non-members Must have your own digital camera
(6 megapixels or higher)

Monday: Introduction to digital photography and learn how to use your camera. Tuesday: A scenic hike around Otsego Lake to learn about landscape photography. Wednesday: A field trip to the Butterfly Conservatory in Oneonta, NY to learn about macro (close-up) photography. Thursday: Sports photography techniques and tips using Soccer Camp as practice. Friday: Learn to edit and print your best photos from the week and hang them on the walls of the Sports Center for everyone to see! Camp will be led by Marketing Coordinator Zachary Winnie.

Extra Awesome Adventures Camp

Come join the fun at Extra Awesome Adventures Camp! Swing through the trees on our new high elements! Pack your gear for three nights camping and canoeing on Lake George! Take a scenic hike to a beautiful waterfall and enjoy natural stone bridges and caves! Tube a daring ride down the Sacandaga River! Equipment provided by the Sports Center.

Kayak Paddling Camp

For five days campers will get the chance to paddle some of the most exciting whitewater in the area! Participants will learn how to brace, roll, and paddle a whitewater kayak through eddies, play holes, and fast moving water. We will leave from the Sports Center each morning and return by the afternoon. An overnight trip will take place Thursday to Friday. All equipment provided by the Sports Center.

Mountain Biking Camp

This five day single track cross-country cycle camp will travel throughout Otsego County in search of the sweetest biking lines. Learn basic techniques associated with mountain biking and then put your skills to the test! There will be one overnight trip at the end of the week—Thursday to Friday. Bikes, helmets, and camping equipment will be provided by the Sports Center if needed.

Outdoor Ropes Course Events

Join us on our Outdoor Ropes Course this summer! The course features 19 elements throughout two levels 25 and 38 feet from the ground, and a zip line. Located on the southwest part of the grounds past the soccer fields. All equipment provided by the Sports Center.

Adventure Camps Special Note

Outdoor Ropes CourseOur camps do not meet the definition of children’s camps under New York State regulations; therefore, they are not regulated by the NYS Department of Health. An Assumption of Risk waiver form is required and must be signed by a parent or guardian for all camp participants. Forms can be found at the Main Desk.

Peterkill Rock Climbing Day Camp

Spend the day in Peterkill, New York learning the basics of rock climbing! During this day trip you will be taught techniques associated with top-rope rock climbing: vertical wall movement, rope management, climbing ethics, and rappelling skills. No experience required and all equipment will be provided by the Sports Center.

Reading Adventures Camp

Reading camp is a mix of great children’s literature and exciting outdoor adventure activities. Join us on educational field trips, work on fun art projects, play exciting games and learn about music. If you enjoy reading and outdoor adventures—Reading Camp is for you!

Rumney, New Hampshire Climbing Camp

Attention all rock climbing enthusiasts: for this years climbing trip, we will be traversing our way to Rumney, New Hampshire. We will spend three days and two nights climbing at this world renowned cliff. Each day campers will climb some of the most beautiful granite in the Northeast. No experience required and all equipment will be provided by the Sports Center.

Science Camp

Science Camp is bursting full of experiments, model rockets, chromatography, games, and field trips! We will travel all around experimenting with science in different places and creating new experiences. Campers will also be able to spend time at the Biological Field Station on Otsego Lake and Science Discovery Center during the week.

Storytelling Camp

If you look hard enough you can find a story anywhere—on a hike, under rocks, behind the trees, and even up in the sky. Come participate in Storytelling Camp this summer and find the story in you! Each day campers will experience stories through field trips, games, arts and crafts, outdoor activities and swimming. Learn the art of storytelling and tell a story of your own!

Three-Day Beginner Rock Climbing Camp

Get outside and try rock climbing this summer! For three days campers will learn the basics of rock climbing. We’ll explore some local cliffs and set you up with all the fundamentals that you need to become a better climber. No experience is necessary. All equipment will be supplied by The Clark Sports Center.
