Summer Camp Information
Summer Camp Dates
June 30–August 22
Instruction and Supervision
All camps and trips are staffed by trained instructors who bring extensive experience, education, and advanced certifications including Wilderness First Responder, First Aid, CPR, AED, coaching, and Lifeguarding. They are professionals in their respective fields and are well equipped to provide safe, educational and fun experiences. Activities are designed and delivered in accordance with quality and safety guidelines established by The Clark Sports Center and New York State.
Registration
Member Registration • Member registration for Summer Camps will start Saturday, May 10 at 8:00am. Sports Camp registration will be in the Main Lobby. Adventure Camp registration will be in the Conference Room. Please note that in order to qualify for member registration, the participating youth must be a current member at the time of registration.
Non-member Registration • Non-member registration will begin Saturday, May 17 at 8:00am at the Main Desk.
Registration Notes
Participants are registered on a first come first serve basis at The Clark Sports Center Main Desk or by mail. Please use the enclosed registration form. Payment in full is due upon registration. We accept cash, checks (made payable to The Clark Sports Center), and credit cards (MasterCard, Visa, and American Express).
Cancellations
In the event your child cannot participate in a camp they are enrolled in, please refer to the schedule below for securing a refund of all or part of your tuition. The Sports Center retains a $15 registration fee for all cancellations.
- 30 days prior to camp start: 100% of tuition refunded.
- 15–29 days prior to camp start: 50% of tuition refunded.
- Cancellations made within 14 days of camp start: 100% forfeit of the tuition.
If a camp does not fill with a minimum number of participants, The Clark Sports Center reserves the right to cancel or combine two different sessions with low enrollment. We will notify participants in advance and you will receive a full tuition refund if we cannot find a substitute arrangement.
For safety reasons, The Clark Sports Center reserves the right to remove a participant from a program or to cancel all or part of a camp at any time. Participants may be removed from camp for violations of camp regulations, showing disrespect to the camp or facility staff, damaging equipment, or any other behavior which is harmful to The Clark Sports Center.

What To Bring
Sports Camps
Each camp requires different apparel depending on the sport involved. Please make sure all participants are dressed appropriately for their activity. Clean, non-marking sneakers or spikes, comfortable athletic clothing or bathing suit, towel, and personal water bottles are required. The Clark Sports Center will supply most equipment.
Adventure Camps
Please refer to the paperwork issued at the time of registration for a required list of items to bring.
Assumption of Risk Form
An Assumption of Risk waiver form is required and must be signed by a parent or guardian for all camp participants. Forms can be found at the Main Desk.

Adventure Camps
Enrollment
Member registration for Summer Adventure Camps will start Saturday, May 10 at 8:00am in the Conference Room. Space is limited for many camps; be sure to sign up early as many fill soon after registration begins. An Adventure Department staff person will be on hand Saturday morning to answer any questions about the camps being offered. Initially, a parent or guardian is only allowed to register members of one family. If you are also acting as a proxy for a friend or relative, you must wait until everyone who has waited in line that morning has registered. Non-member registration will begin Saturday, May 17 at 8:00am at the Main Desk. Fill out the Adventure Camp registration form found at the end of this brochure and submit it with your payment to the Main Desk staff.
Special Notes
The following camps do not meet the definition of children’s camps under New York State regulations; therefore, they are not regulated by the New York State Department of Health. An Assumption of Risk waiver form is required and must be signed by a parent or guardian for all camp participants. Forms can be found at the Main Desk.
Adventure Day Camp

Cost: $180/members; $200/nonmembers • Limit of 9
Description: You will enjoy what we have in store for Adventure Day Camp this summer! Our days will be filled with new hikes, amazing views, taking a walk with wildlife, discovering new things about you, and learning how electricity is made with water. On Friday, the last day of camp, adventurers will enjoy a dip in the lake while we have a cookout at Camp Minnetoska.
Awesome Adventures
Days & Times: Monday–Friday, 8:00am–4:00pm

Cost: $180/members; $200/nonmembers • Limit of 9
Description: Take this summer to a new level! Rock climb up high cliffs, take a bike ride through a scenic trail way and take yourself to new heights with an amazing peak hike. At the end of the week we will take a dip in the Sacandaga River, tube down some extreme rapids, and enjoy an night under the stars at Camp Minnetoska.
Adirondack Canoe Trip
Days & Times: Overnights; Leave Monday morning at 8:00am and return Friday evening at 3:00pm

Level: Challenging (Much physical activity)
Cost: $220/members; $240/nonmembers • Limit of 8
Description: If you enjoy water, sunshine, beautiful views and some of nature’s finest creatures then pack your bags and join us for our five day canoe trip. For five days and four nights you will be paddling to extraordinary places in the heart of the Adirondacks. You will learn basic camp set up and cooking, along with many other different outdoor experiences.
Adirondack Slide Hiking Trip
Days & Times: Overnights; Leave Monday morning at 8:00am and return Friday evening at 6:00pm
Dates: August 4–8
Ages: 13–16
Level: Challenging (Much physical activity)
Cost: $220/members; $240/nonmembers • Limit of 6
Description: This camp will bring hikers up the highest peaks in New York State. Adventurers will hike to lookouts to find the best views of beautifully exposed bedrock faces. For this trip we will spend five days and four nights in Adirondack State Park where we will be hiking various peaks of this nature. By choosing to hike with us along these mountain peaks you’ll get the opportunity to experience some of the most beautiful views in New York State.
Advanced Rock Climbing Trip
Days & Times: Overnights; Leave Sunday morning at 8:00am and return Friday evening at 6:00pm
Dates: July 20–25
Ages: 15+ (Exceptions may be made for 14 year olds with permission from the Adventure Director)
Level: Moderate to Challenging
Cost: $240/members; $260/nonmembers • Limit of 8
Description: For this years climbing trip we will travel to Adirondack State Park. We will spend six days climbing at various cliffs and experience what climbing in the Adirondacks is all about. Participants will be able to traverse rock walls from sun up to sun down each day and camp out overnight. Some of the cliffs that we might visit are Beerwalls, Shanty Cliff, Barkeater, and others.
Explorers Camp
Days & Times: Overnights; Leave Monday morning at 8:00am and return Saturday evening at 6:00pm
Dates: July 28–August 2
Ages: 13–16
Level: Moderate to Challenging
Cost: $240/members; $260/nonmembers • Limit of 6
Description: This trip spends six days and five nights in the back country of the Adirondack State Park. The majority of the trip will find participating explorers canoeing along the waterways of the Adirondacks. Along the way we will also get the chance to hike one of the beautiful peaks in the area. Throughout this trip participants will learn many back country skills such as camping, cooking, paddling, and more.
Extra Awesome Adventures
Days & Times: Monday, 8:00am–4:00pm; Overnights, Tuesday 8:00am to Friday 4:00pm
Dates: July 21–25
Ages: 12 & 13
Level: Moderate (Some physical activity)
Cost: $220/members; $240/nonmembers • Limit of 9
Description: Is Adventure your idea of a good time? Join Extra Awesome this summer and prepare yourself for one of the most amazing summers of your life! We will track down a geocaching fortune in the Van Hornsville area. Go to new heights, monkey around on the outdoor ropes course and enjoy the wilderness in an extraordinary setting! We will also spend a relaxing day at Water Safari during our camp out in the Adirondacks.
Kayak Paddling Camp
Days & Times: Monday–Wednesday, 8:00–4:00; Overnights, Thursday 8:00am to Saturday 6:00pm
Dates: July 14–19
Ages: 13–15 Level: Moderate to Challenging
Cost: $240/members; $260/nonmembers • Limit of 6
Description: For six days you’ll get the chance to paddle some of the most exciting whitewater in the area. During the camp participants will learn how to brace, roll, and paddle a whitewater kayak through eddies, play holes, and fast moving water. Monday to Wednesday, we will leave from the Sports Center each morning and return by the afternoon. Thursday to Saturday, we will leave on an overnight trip to Deerfield River in Massachusetts. All equipment will be provided.
Mountain Biking Camp
Days & Times: Sunday–Tuesday, 8:00am–4:00pm; Overnight, Wednesday 8:00am to Thursday 6:00pm
Dates: August 10–14
Ages: 13–16 Level: Challenging
Cost: $240/members; $260/nonmembers • Limit of 8
Description: This five day single track cross country cycle camp will travel throughout Otsego County in search of some of the sweetest lines. Learn basic techniques associated with mountain biking, then put your skills to the test. There will be one overnight trip towards the end of the week at a location yet to be determined. Bikes, helmets, and camping equipment will be provided if necessary.
Outdoor Leadership Camp
Days & Times: Monday–Wednesday, 8:00am–4:00pm; Overnight Thursday 8:00am to Friday 4:00pm

Cost: $220/members; $240/nonmembers • Limit of 8
Description: Have you ever wondered what would happen if you were stranded in the outdoors and you needed to build a fire and shelter while one of your friends is injured? Join us for our Outdoor Leadership Camp. Become certified in basic CPR and First Aid, and learn many basic skills to survive in the outdoors. To add with your survival skills you will learn many different leadership skills and activities to help your peers through a wilderness environment.
Reading Adventures
Days & Times: Monday–Friday, 8:30am–3:00pm

Ages: 4–7 (4 years entering Kindergarten)
Cost: $180/members; $200/nonmembers • Limit of 9
Description: Children’s literature and amazing outdoor adventures is what Reading Adventure Camp is all about. Participate in outdoor activities, educational field trips, art projects, reading/writing games and music. Reading Camp is centered on great children’s books and a great experience for youths ages four to seven.
Science Camp
Days & Times: Monday–Friday, 8:30am–3:30pm

Description: What better way to spend your summer experiencing science through experiments, games and field trips. Learn about chemistry, plant biology, chromatography, and build model rockets. We will travel all around Otsego County, the Biological Field Station, and the Science Discovery Center in the course of our science adventures.
Storytelling Camp
Days & Times: Monday–Friday, 9:00am–4:00pm

Description: Explore the exciting world around you through the magical tradition of storytelling. We will find stories behind every tree, under every rock and in places only you can imagine as we swim, walk and hike. Use your imagination to create your own story. Each day will be filled with field trips, games, arts and crafts, outdoor activities, and stories, stories, stories!
Three Day Beginner Climbing Camp
Session 1: Monday–Wednesday, July 28–30
Session 2: Wednesday–Friday, August 20–22
Times: 9:00am–4:00pm
Ages: 10–1
Level: Easy to Moderate
Cost: $105/members; $125/nonmembers • Limit of 9
Description: Get outside and try something different this summer! For three days you’ll learn the basics of rock climbing from our excellent climbing staff. We’ll explore some local cliffs and set you up with all the fundamentals and safety lessons that you’ll need to become a better climber. No experience is necessary. All equipment will be supplied by The Clark Sports Center.

Sports Camps

Facilities Used For Sports Camps
Inside of the Sports Center is a multi-purpose gym floor that features an NBA length basketball court with six full-size glass backboards and ample room for gymnastics and volleyball. Our indoor facilities also include a 25 yard lap pool, 13’ deep diving pool, and an eight lane bowling alley. Outdoors athletics facilities include two softball fields, four full-sized soccer fields, one junior football field, and a four court tennis center.
Baseball Camp
Dates: Monday–Friday, July 14–18
Time: 9:00–12:00am Grades: 3–6
Location: Gym Floor & Softball Fields
Cost: $75/members; $100/non-members • Limit of 24
Description: Long time coach Sharky Nagelschmidt will be directing this camp. Players will learn basic fundamentals of hitting, bunting, pitching, catching, fielding, and position play. Campers will apply learned skills and strategy in games and contests. Campers should have a hat, glove, spikes, water bottle, and baseball pants or sweat pants.
Bowling Camp
Dates: Monday–Friday, July 7–11
Time: 9:00–12:00am Grades: 3–12
Location: Bowling Alley
Cost: $75/members; $100/non-members • Limit of 24
Description: Four time PBA champion and New York State Bowling Hall of Famer Gus Lampo will direct this camp with assistance from Clark Sports Center Athletic Director Barry Gray. Campers will learn basic fundamentals through drills, competition, videos, tournament play, and one on one instruction with Gus Lampo.
Boys and Girls Basketball Camp
Dates: Monday–Thursday, June 30, July 1–3
Time: 9:00–12:00am Grades: 2–6
Location: Gym Floor
Cost: $75/members; $100/non-members • Limit of 60
Description: This camp will be directed by our Sports Center staff with help from a former WNBA basketball player Nicole Andres. The camp will emphasize basic fundamentals through drills, demonstrations, scrimmages, and daily contests. Sneakers and shorts are required.
Cheerleading Camp
Dates: Monday–Friday, August 18–22
Location: Gym Floor
Level One • Grades: 3–6; Time: 10:00–11:30am; Cost: $50/members or $75/non-member; Limit of 30
Level Two • Grades: 7–12; Time: 8:00–9:30am; Cost: $50/members or $75/non-member; Limit of 60
Description: Justin Hobbie, CCS High School Cheerleading Coach, will be directing this fun new camp. The focus of this camp will be on stunting progressions, cheerleading motions, jumps, and safety. Coach Hobbie is a former UCA instructor & Cortland State College Cheerleading coach.
Competitive Swim Camp
Dates: Monday–Friday, August 11–15
Time: 9:00–12:00am Ages: 6–18 years old
Location: Pool Area
Cost: $75/members; $100/non-members • Limit of 60
Description: Competitive Swim Camp is for swimmers who have had at least one year of competitive experience on a team. The camp is designed to strengthen basic techniques in the four major strokes—butterfly, breaststroke, backstroke, and freestyle. Instruction will be given on turns and individual medleys. This is an excellent camp for beginner to intermediate swim team participants who would like to improve their technique and times. Clark Sports Center Swim Team coaches Deb LeCates and Kristen Griger will be co-directing this camp.
Gymnastics and Dance Camp
Dates: Monday–Thursday, July 21–24
Location: Gym Floor
Level One • Limit of 24; Ages: 4–6 years old; Time: 11:15am–12:10pm; Cost: $35/members or $60/non-members
Level Two • Limit of 24; Ages: 7–13 years old; Time: 9:00–11:00am; Cost: $70/members or $95/non-members
Description: Long time instructor and coach Betty Gavin-Singer will direct this camp. The program will provide first class instruction in an exceptional environment. Improved self-image, increased body awareness, and enhanced health and fitness are some of the outcomes for those engaged in the taught activities. Proper stretch and warm up will be in the daily program.
Golf Camp
Dates: Tuesday–Friday, July 29–August 1
Location: Gym Floor & Outdoor Fields
Level One • Grades: 4–6; Time: 9:00–10:00am; Cost: $75/members or $100/non-members; Limit of 12
Level Two • Grades: 7–9; Time: 10:30–11:30am ; Cost: $75/members or $100/non-members; Limit of 12
Description: Assistant Athletics Director Scott Whiteman will direct this camp. Golf Camp focuses on teaching the correct mechanics to help produce the most efficient swing for maximum power. Parents will need to provide transportation to and from the Meadow Links Golf Course on Friday (9:00am–12:00pm).
Intermediate Soccer Camp
Dates: Monday–Friday, August 11–15
Time: 9:00–12:00am Grades: 3–6
Location: Gym Floor & Soccer Fields
Cost: $75/members; $100/non-members • Limit of 60
Description: Frank Miosek, a local Cooperstown coach for over 30 years, will direct this camp with the aid of other area coaches and Clark Sports Center staff. This camp will build on the basics taught in Super Juniors Soccer Camp and focus on improving campers’ fundamental skills and taking their game to the next level. Players will learn to excel through drills, strategy sessions, and competitive game play. Spikes, shin guards, and water bottles are required for this camp.
Soccer Training Camp
Dates: Monday–Friday, August 4–8
Time: 8:00–12:00am Grades: 7–12
Location: Gym Floor & Soccer Fields
Cost: $110 members; $135/non-members • Limit of 60
Description: Soccer Training Camp will be directed by local coaches, high school players, and former college players with assistance from Frank Miosek. Goalie instruction will be taught by Assistant Athletic Director and former college goalie, Scott Whiteman. This camp will deliver first rate instruction, superior competition, and strategic and tactical skills needed for the motivated player and those youths who are trying out for school soccer teams. Individual skills and team play will be emphasized. Spikes, shin guards, and water bottles are required.
Super Juniors Soccer Camp
Dates: Monday–Friday, July 7–11
Time: 9:00–11:00am Grades: K–2
Location: Gym Floor & Soccer Fields
Cost: $75/members; $100/non-members • Limit of 60
Description: This popular camp will be directed by coach and teacher Sherri France in conjunction with other area coaches. Campers will get their fill of fitness, fun, lead-up games, and friendly competition. Join the excitement and be a part of the world’s fastest growing and most popular sport! This camp will have a series of stations teaching children basic fundamentals of passing, dribbling, positioning, and goalie instruction. Spikes, shin guards, and water bottles are required.
Tennis Camp
Dates: Monday–Friday, July 7–11
Location: Tennis Center
Level One • Ages: 6–9 years old; Time: 1:00–2:00pm; Cost: $35/members or $60/non-members; Limit of 18
Level Two • Ages: 10–15 years old; Time: 2:15–4:15pm; Cost: $70/members or $95/non-members; Limit of 24
Description: This camp will introduce tennis to youths over a week-long training period. The camp will establish solid fundamentals including stroke production, proper footwork, game strategy, conditioning, and sportsmanship. Coach John Brotherton will be directing Tennis Camp this season.
Volleyball Camp
Dates: Monday–Friday, July 14–18
Time: 1:00–4:00pm Ages: 11–14 years old
Location: Gym Floor
Cost: $75/members; $100/non-members • Limit of 24
Description: The goal of Volleyball Camp is skills training and improvement. Training involving individual techniques and team strategies will be incorporated into a fun and meaningful camp experience. A typical day consists of focused offensive and defensive skills training, game-like drills, and learning teamwork through competitive play. This camp is directed by Rich Jantzi, the Sports Center’s Health, Fitness and Racquets Director and CCS Varsity Volleyball coach.
