| Outdoor Climbing Systems & Anchor Fundamentals in Little Falls | 8/1/2026 | 9:00am–4:00pm | This hands-on clinic is designed for climbers who want to build confidence in outdoor climbing systems, anchor construction, and risk management. Participants will learn how to assess climbing sites, build and evaluate anchors, and understand the principles behind safe and efficient top-rope systems. Throughout the day, we will explore natural and artificial anchors, equipment selection and inspection, joining methods, redundancy, load distribution, and system organization. Participants will examine common mistakes, discuss accident prevention strategies, and practice effective communication and site management techniques. Additional topics may include top-rope setup considerations, climber management, contingency planning, and basic methods for assisting climbers from above. Leave No Trace principles and environmental stewardship will be incorporated throughout the program. The clinic emphasizes hands-on learning, practical application, and sound decision-making. Participants should expect to spend the majority of the day actively building, evaluating, and discussing climbing systems in a real outdoor setting. Participants should have basic climbing and belay experience. No previous anchor-building experience is required.
